Diversifying the restorative sector

Join Dr Anamika Tywman-Ghoshal and Dr Anna Gregory for a one-hour online conversation exploring what meaningful inclusion in restorative practice asks of us.

Drawing on recent research, this session moves beyond presenting findings to opening questions:

Who is missing? What changes when new voices enter the room? And what responsibility do we each hold?

Rather than offering answers, we invite shared reflection, curiosity, and dialogue. This is a space to think together about race, representation, language, and power in restorative practice, and about what might shift in our own contexts.

Please note that this event will NOT be recorded due to the interactive and reflective format of the event.

This online event will be held on Zoom. You can register on Eventbrite, with variable ticket prices available. Please pay as you are able so that we have the resources to continue to hold these types of events:

£10 (e.g. employed professional/government/academic/large organisation)

£5 (e.g. employed by a small charity)

Free (e.g. student/volunteer/don’t have the resources to pay for a ticket)

Dr Anamika Twyman-Ghoshal is a senior lecturer in criminology at Brunel University of London and has a PhD in Criminology and Justice Policy from Northeastern University in Boston, MA (USA). Her work focuses on the intersection of power, systemic injustice and social harm; restorative justice and practice; and decolonising knowledge production. Her restorative justice research has included evaluating police run restorative services, collating evidence and measuring the effectiveness of restorative practices, using restorative and decolonised research methods, and broadening representation in the restorative sector. Beyond her academic interest in restorative justice, she was a restorative justice practitioner in the United States and is the co-founder of the community-interest-company, Restorativ, which looks to make restorative justice more accessible through the use of technology. She is a member of the Advisory Board for the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Restorative Justice and a board appointed trustee of the Restorative Justice Council.

Dr Anna Gregory is one of the co-founders and co-director of The Restorative Lab, an organisation dedicated to transforming schools and organisations by offering high-quality training, consultancy, evaluation, and facilitation services in relational and restorative practices. She is a skilled facilitator, trainer, and researcher with extensive experience leading peace education projects and implementing relational and restorative culture change programmes in schools and Local Authority teams. With over 13 years of experience supporting schools across the UK and Europe in developing relational approaches, Anna specialises in whole-school strategies informed by peace-focused restorative practices.
