This practical 2.5 hour online CPD workshop will provide an exploratory space in which practitioners can learn and practice a variety of creative exercises to be integrated into their own restorative practice. You don’t need to have any prior experience or knowledge of art and design or of using art materials in order to take part - just enthusiasm and curiosity!

Dr Clair Aldington is a freelance researcher and practitioner and has over twenty years’ experience of working in the field of restorative practices. She holds a PhD in Design and Restorative Justice and a MA in Contemporary Art and Music and has authored several academic articles and book chapters regarding her practice and research. She is the co-founder and Director-Practitioner of the award winning Space2face restorative practices and arts charity in Shetland, Scotland. Clair’s work has pioneered the use of art and design as an intrinsic part of restorative processes with people of all ages. Specifically, how creative approaches can aid oral language use and the articulation of trauma, particularly in cases of serious crime, thereby improving the accessibility of restorative processes. She began her restorative justice career in Oxford, England, where she worked as part of the reparation and then restorative justice teams within Oxfordshire Youth Offending Service. Clair has also served as a regional Creative Arts Development Worker in youth justice as part of a national pilot project initiated by the Youth Justice Board of England and Wales and Arts Council England. Her community arts practice has led to projects in women’s refuges, artist residencies in a prison and in schools as well as workshops in community centres and care homes.
